What’s the big deal?

I guess some of you are asking themselves why I’ve created this new blog on aerdan.org. First of all, I was kind of tired of all the limits on Altervista, like no hot-linking, 10 GB bandwidth a month, very old php services, and other minor stuff.
This doesn’t mean that I will wipe out the site on that domain, but rather branch it into two sites: this one will be used for the English community on the front page, while the one on Altervista will probably remain for the Italian one (not that I’ve been doing much work for the Italian community lately).
As for the discussion board, I was tired of IPB and I grew interested in SMF, which is what I’m using now. It was a little hard to convert all the info from the old database, being the script used for doing this totally craptastic. Some things will probably work a little differently, but most of the routine should be pretty much the same even on the new board. This means, all sectors remained the same with the very same permissions. Also, all the user accounts with at least 1 message are still in the database (sorry, dummy users were wiped out) with all their messages on the board and private discussions. I think it should be very similar to the other board, unless something went wrong during the convertion, but I had no feedback so far. I suppose it’s all cool now.
I’m still working on adding some more content to the front page, like an about page, a fast reference for projects and downloads, and other stuff that might be interesting. One more thing for those who have an account on the discussion board: your id and password work also on wordpress, so if you want to comment just use what you type for the forums.
Welcome to the new home of the Devil Hackers.
